8 DECEMBER2024W MAN LEADERGLOBAL W MAN LEADERGLOBAL NEWS BITESTANZANIA & WORLD BANK SIGN $4M GRANT & $100M LOAN TO EMPOWER WOMENTwo financing agreements has been signed by Tanzania with the World Bank with an intent to assist an initiative entitled as `Pamoja Project'. This project aims towards advancing gender equality. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the bank caters in the International Trade and Development industry with specialities in Global Development Finance/Lending, Development Knowledge, Advisory Services and a lot more.The agreement holds a combination of a grant worth $4 million alongside a concessional loan of $100 million. It will fund efforts towards promoting economic opportunities for females while enhancing services for preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and responding to it.In addition, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, the minister for Finance said that this project aligns with the Third National Five-Year Development Plan (2021/22-2025/26) of Tanzania as well as the Draft Development Vision 2050.He said, "Under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, gender equality is a central priority. The Pamoja Project is a testament to our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5, and to achieving inclusive growth that leaves no one behind".He added, "Advancing gender equality is not just a women's issue. It is fundamental to building a democratic, just, and prosperous nation. Closing gender gaps significantly boosts economic productivity and fosters resilience".
