The Scandinavian country has always scored highly on the global gender equality scale, never dropping below the fifth spot.The country has been steadfastly committed to building a just and equitable society for men and women. In Sep 2021, Sweden got its first female PM in Magdalena Andersson. Although her term ended in 2022, yet Sweden remains committed to an equitable political sphere.In 2023, 53 per cent of all state-owned companies in Sweden were being led by woman CEOs and had 45 percent women chairpersons according to data shared by Sweden's bi-annual report on gender equality,The country's business world tells a different story though. Women still continue to be underrepresented in leadership roles in Sweden's corporate world. Only 10 percent of Sweden's listed companies had female chairpersons in 2023. In the same year only 14 percent of public companies had women CEOs and women's representation in Boards was at 36 percent.Although much work remains to be done, yet women are gaining more visibility in Sweden's business world and in the coming years, more women will join leadership roles.The current edition of GWL magazine celebrates exceptional women leaders from Sweden.
