Colombia Much Ahead in Drive Towards Gender Equality than its other Latin Counterparts

The world is constantly striving towards achieving gender equality is all sphere of life. Some regions of the world have made more progress than others in terms of bringing women’s stature at an equal level to their male counterparts.

The South American nation of Colombia is one of the top most proponents of gender equality in its region. Data suggests that in 2021, Colombia surpassed our Latin American nations when it came to representation of women in business leadership roles. 55.5 percent of business leaders in Colombia were women in 2021.

This achievement has been achieved owing to the country’s steadfast commitment to empowering women. Over the past two decades significant improvement has been made in terms of designing and delivering policies to strengthen gender equality. The country has accepted and abided by all women’s rights treaties on an international level. The country has also amended its laws to foster gender equality.
