Taiwan Taking Giant Leaps In Boosting Women's Representation In Mid Level & Senior Roles

Globally, there has been effort to improve gender-gap in the workforce and leadership roles. In various region, women are catching up to men when it comes to higher education, especially at the tertiary level. Women’s participation in the labor force has also been on the rise in many countries over the past couple of years. While a lot still remains to be done, women have come a long way in terms of representation in all aspects of life and work.

Taiwan as a nation has been taking big strides in improving women’s representation in mid-level and leadership roles. Various reports suggest that the nation has made progress in gender equality in supervisory and executive positions in the private sector and posts as public representatives in politics.

According to DGBAS statistics, women’s participation as elected officials, business leaders and managers increased to 30.5 in 2021. This number saw a rise from 20.5 percent in 2010.
