Engaging in an idiosyncratic interaction with The Global Women Leader magazine, Carlotta shares the imperious details of her journey as one of the influencing leaders in Abu Dhabi. Let’s delve into it.

What inspired you to establish Adenium? Tell us about the underlying idea behind the venture and key areas of specialization.

Adenium was founded out of a deep commitment to strengthening global resilience in the face of complex circumstances. Building on a decade of expertise, my goal was to establish a business that takes a comprehensive approach to risk management rather than only focusing on its technical aspects.

The company houses two integral branches – Adenium Coaching and Adenium Risk, each addressing distinct dimensions of resilience. Adenium Coaching is devoted to cultivating soft skills, offering leadership coaching, executive coaching, team building, and empowerment programs, particularly focusing on women. On the other hand, Adenium Risk handles the technical facets, providing services such as risk assessment and management plans, trainings, exercises, audits and reviews.

Beyond conventional consultancy, we strive to impart sustainable knowledge, offering validation and support even after the initial engagement because we aim to foster community-building and affordability, to create a resilient global community that stands prepared in the face of adversity.

What differentiates Adenium from other players in the segment and what are the key responsibilities that you shoulder as the founder and MD of the firm?

Rather than focusing solely on financial gains, our dedication lies in understanding and addressing individual client needs, fostering trust, and ensuring a shared understanding of our strategies. My responsibilities as the Founder and Managing Director go beyond the intricacies of risk management. I skillfully negotiate the complexities of team relationships, carefully choosing qualified experts to uphold a peaceful and cohesive work atmosphere. It takes constant adaptation to stay ahead in this fast-paced field, not only in terms of industry trends but also in terms of incorporating new technologies.

What are the major challenges that you encounter in terms of leading Adenium? How do you navigate these roadblocks?

Leading Adenium comes with its share of challenges, such the continuous need to uphold the trust placed in me by clients and colleagues who have been instrumental in the company's early success. Balancing multiple roles, including teaching at the university and engaging in individual consultancies with organizations such as the UN, demands an unwavering commitment. The constant juggle between various responsibilities, coupled with the relentless nature of entrepreneurship, means there's no real break. As a woman in the male-dominated fields of engineering and disaster management, breaking through gender biases presents a unique set of obstacles. Despite these hurdles, the passion for building global resilience and the satisfaction of seeing the positive impact of Adenium keeps me motivated to overcome every roadblock.

What are some of the milestones that you have achieved in your professional journey? What has been your mantra for success?

The most significant triumph in my professional journey was the encouragement from colleagues to establish the company. Being a true leader means being one who isn’t self proclaimed, therefore, being recognized as one by other professionals and collegues I have shared or crossed path with has undeniably been the most motivational milestone of my career.

"Creativitiy, Knowledge & Determination Will Shape Your Success In Any Field"

A mantra is useful only if it sits on a strong set beliefs, in my case I believe that creativity channeled through technical expertise and stacks of determination are the 3 elements of success in any field, and surely are mine. Furthermore, as an Italian, creativity runs in my blood and the latter applied through technical knowledge runs more closely in my very family DNA. I believe in continuous improvement, acknowledging that sometimes goals may not be immediately met, but the commitment to giving my best remains unwavering.

What is your vision for Adenium’s future in the industry?

My goal with Adenium is to give comprehensive, tailored strategies rather than generic, one-size-fits-all solutions, which is the current tendency in the industry. The company's growth will be sustained going ahead by our dedication to being a reliable partner for businesses in the Gulf region and beyond. The primary goal is to establish Adenium as the industry leader in trust and innovation by becoming the go-to source for dependable, customized solutions that address the welfare of people, communities, and the environment.

Furthermore, I would like to see Adenium as a sort of inspiration to young professional and in particular women. Message for aspiring women leaders and entrepreneurs: Don't allow fear, doubt, or the fact that you are the first to do it, to stop you if you have a clear vision and feel that you can make a great impact on the world community. Just go for it. Embrace the possibility of failure as a chance to learn, adjust, and persist, because only acting you can change the world.
