Women leaders are becoming more and more important in Brazil's dynamic and changing economy, particularly in industries such as business, technology, and finance. Women from esteemed universities like the University of Sao Paulo are at the forefront of the nation's economic sector diversification and growth. These women are not only shattering stereotypes in fields that have historically been controlled by men, but they are also changing the business environment in Brazil.
Carolina Rogerio, Partner and Private Banker at Lifetime started her career in the financial industry when she moved from an auditing and loyalty firm to a managerial position at Unibanco in Brazil. She flourished with Unibanco after it was eventually acquired by Itaú, working there for 16 years and developing her knowledge of investment methods and wealth management. When her previous director, who had relocated to Lifetime (a consulting firm connected to one of Brazil's biggest banks) , ask her to join him,) her career took a dramatic change. Carolina now manages high-net-worth clients at Lifetime as a Partner and Private Banker, supervising investment portfolios, succession planning, and wealth preservation.
Embarking on a distinctive exchange with The Global Women Leader magazine, Carolina divulges the intricate facets of her journey as a prominent leader from Brazil. Let's explore further.
Can you introduce Lifetime and explain your roles and responsibilities as a Partner and Private Banker at the company?
At Lifetime, we create value in our clients' lives by analyzing each client's particular needs and developing investment plans that work for them at every point of their journey. My responsibility as a Partner and Private Banker is to make sure that, in addition to offering financial services, I actively support my customers' development and success. Our One Stop Shop model brings together a variety of experts in different areas, allowing me to offer comprehensive solutions across investments, asset management, corporate needs, and more. My goal is to create customized experiences that enhance our clients' well-being and secure their financial future.
How do you stay updated with the latest industry trends and developments happening within the market?
I regularly attend my company's training programs and workshops to stay up to date on the latest advancements and trends in the field. I also understand the importance of obtaining the certifications required by Brazilian regulatory bodies, such as Anbima and CVM. In addition to improving my knowledge, these certificates ensure that I follow industry standards. I also look for certifications that exist on the global market. I set aside time for independent study and research to keep up with changes in the market. I also intend to pursue a doctorate to broaden my knowledge and stay up to date with new developments in the field.
How do you maintain a balance between your professional and personal life?
As my work schedule can vary greatly, it is challenging to maintain a balance between my personal and professional life. There is indeed a starting point - 8:30 am to 6:30 pm, but on some occasions - such as participation in events, for example, this time exceeds 9 pm. Performances on weekends may also occur, depending on demands.
"I Want To Keep Making A Difference, Honoring The Trust People Place In Me, And Helping Others Find Lasting Success And Happiness"
I make self-care and relaxation a priority by working out frequently and setting aside time to read, not just work-related materials, but also novels and other genres that motivate me. Another one of my passions is traveling, whether it is to Brazil or other countries. My family gives me much-needed support and happiness, so I try to spend as much time with them as I can.
What is the future that you have envisioned for yourself?
The future I see for myself is one in which I keep using my work to impact people's lives. I have a strong commitment to respecting and advancing the legacy of the families and customers I work with. Helping people reach their objectives and safeguard their future is just as important as managing their wealth. I think that what I do counts, so I want to keep getting better and developing in my position.
What is your advice for the upcoming leaders in the industry?
The first piece of advice I would provide to aspiring industry leaders is to truly enjoy working with people. Since you will be handling their hard-earned money, which calls for expertise and empathy, you must establish trust. Although it's difficult, managing these connections with care is essential.
Secondly, commit to lifelong education. You must be knowledgeable and flexible to keep ahead of the market, which is always changing. Maintaining a keen mind and being able to adjust to quick changes are essential for success in this industry.
