The pursuit of success in career, especially for women, comes with additional challenges. Moreover, it takes extra effort, courage, and persistence to build a business ground up. Today, we celebrate Georgina Boysselle Foraste, the Founder of Atmosfera Estrategia Financiera, for defying the odds and sowing entrepreneurial seeds in the finance sector of Mexico.

In this exclusive interview with Global Woman Leader Magazine, Georgina shares the story of her brainchild, the challenges she went through, and more invaluable wise inputs.

Could you walk us through the formative years of your life? What were the key early influences that shaped you as an individual? We'd love to hear about your journey.

From a young age, I was quite certain about what I wanted in life. I always pictured myself as a banker. During playtime with my cousins, while they would assume roles like teachers or hotel managers, I always chose to be a banker. Excelling in mathematics naturally led me to study finance at ITAM (Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico). I was passionate about my studies and enjoyed my university experience and the friendships I made there. As aspired, I joined Ixe during my final semester and had the opportunity to work under an exceptional leader. Initially, started in finance and later shifted

to investment banking, which became my true passion. Eventually, one of my bosses left Ixe to start an investment banking boutique and invited me to join him. Initially, I declined because I was happy and satisfied with my position at the bank I admired. However, after the acquisition of the bank, I reconsidered the offer. I then decided to join my former boss. Four years later, in 2015, I ideated Atmosfera Estrategia Financiera to help businesses go public and navigate corporate governance.

Can you elaborate on the core reasons behind the establishment of Atmosfera Estrategia & its primary areas of expertise?

It is the realization that many Mexican companies wanted to go public or issue debt through the stock market but lacked the knowledge to do so. I decided to leverage my expertise to help these companies navigate the process, which led me to establish the company.

The goal was to assist businesses in achieving their financing goals and strengthening their corporate governance. Many companies aspired to enter the public markets but were unsure of the necessary steps. I saw an opportunity to guide them through this process. My expertise lies in helping businesses strengthen their corporate governance and prepare for public offerings, ensuring they meet all necessary requirements.

What are your major roles & responsibilities as the Founder?

As the Founder my responsibilities include solving daily issues related to client transactions and guiding my team in addressing these challenges. I am also involved in training and advising both my staff and clients. Sometimes, clients need that in-depth consultation as well. Additionally, I focus on identifying new and improved ways to enhance our efficiency and the effectiveness of our clients’ operations. A prominent part of my role involves seeking out new clients and investors, and negotiating terms to align with both client needs and investor interests.

Could you share some of the major challenges you’ve faced as a business leader?

As a young business woman, building the trust and gaining those initial opportunities was a challenge. At the start of my entrepreneurial journey, convincing established leaders to entrust their major projects to me was difficult. To overcome this, I offered my services on a success-fee basis. This meant that if I did not achieve the investment goals or facilitate their entry into the public markets, I would not charge them a single dollar. For my first two clients, I worked for three years without charging until I successfully helped them issue debt in the stock market. This approach boosted my credibility, commitment and proved my capability, which ultimately led to more clients and a growing business.

What do you consider to be your biggest achievements or milestones? What has been your success mantra?

Perhaps it might sound anomalous, but I genuinely consider my team to be my biggest win. I have been incredibly fortunate to find and work with some of the most brilliant individuals. Their passion and dedication have been instrumental in building Atmosfera Estrategia, and they have embraced this venture as their personal project as well. It's remarkable how these talented people have aligned with my vision and contributed to the company's success.

Speaking of success, to me, it is about excelling in something you truly love. It’s about finding fulfilment in your work and overcoming challenges with resilience. When you are passionate about what you do, it becomes easier to rise up again and persevere through difficulties and setbacks. My success mantra is to pursue what you love, as it provides the motivation and strength to achieve your goals no matter how many times you fall.
