Shed light on your early life and path toward success.

My educational journey began in the former East part of Germany, where travel restrictions inspired a curiosity to explore different countries and cultures. I, fortunately, started my profession in the travel agency industry before pursuing studies in international economy, marketing, and business development. Working in hotels and Congress organizing, I then took on the task of growing Berlin as a top congress and events destination. After 18 successful years, I embraced a new challenge as the COO of a large Congress Center. Amidst the COVID pandemic, we renovated and opened the center, facing significant challenges. However, we emerged stronger, harnessing years of experience and creating new teams. My journey reflects my passion for innovation and commitment to making a difference in the business events industry.

What key lessons you have learned throughout your expansive industry experience? Describe your leadership style.

Throughout my industry experience, I've learned to embrace change and challenges. Seeing the glass as half full, I focus on the positive aspects and believe in making things happen. Listening is crucial, reading between the lines to understand people's needs. Continuous education helps me navigate challenges and empowers me to make a positive impact on the world and the people around me.

As a business leader, encountering challenges daily is inevitable, but I embrace them with a growth mindset. Learning, both professionally and personally, helps me analyze developments in various fields and integrate them into my leadership style. Networking plays a vital role, connecting me with valuable information and communities to find solutions even in unfamiliar territories. Overcoming roadblocks becomes possible through knowledge, adaptability, and a willingness to seek help when needed.

I focus on nurturing and growing teams, supporting young talents through education and development. Leading by example, building trust with clients and teams is paramount. I encourage exploring new paths, even if it means taking risks. My strategic approach, combined with self-trust and support from mentors and management, has led to success over the years.

Could you share some of the key business challenges you've confronted what are your strategies for overcoming these obstacles?

One of the significant challenges yet opportunity I've encountered revolves around adapting to the ever-evolving landscape of my industry. Staying ahead requires a deep understanding of both industry trends and economic shifts. I've realized that analyzing these changes not only refines my leadership approach but also enhances my team's performance.

"Be open-minded, leverage your network in solution findings & daily tasks, foster community-building, & fortify your strength"

Overcoming roadblocks demands a holistic perspective. I believe personal growth mirrors professional success. To foster this growth, I constantly seek new experiences and insights. By understanding the dynamics of my own life, I can better comprehend the intricacies of my leadership style.

Setting and achieving goals is another intricate challenge. My approach involves meticulous planning and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. In my view, knowledge is the foundation of effective decision-making. Engaging in networking has also been pivotal. Acknowledging that I can't possess all the answers, I actively seek out information and connections. This network, both professionally and personally, empowers me to tackle unfamiliar issues confidently.

You have co-founded ‘She Means Community’. Tell us about the venture and the initiatives it undertakes to create a more inclusive and just corporate world.

She Means Community was co-founded during the COVID pandemic in 2020-21 by a group of 12 passionate women. Our initiative was to improve diversity and equal pay in the corporate world. The aim was to bridge the knowledge gap among the younger generation and attract fresh talent to our industry. Amid numerous virtual meetings, we realized the pressing need to support both women and men in their career journeys. The research highlighted persistent gender pay disparities and limited opportunities. This realization became our driving force. To address these issues, we established a multifaceted platform.

In the initial stages, virtual sessions addressed pertinent topics like diversity, gender equity, and industry insights. As pandemic restrictions eased, we transitioned to a hybrid approach. This involved active participation in industry events, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. Witnessing the platform's growth and its positive impact on individuals' careers has been truly gratifying.

Our platform offers a blend of guidance, networking, and empowerment, fostering an environment where people can access industry contacts, personalized advice, and renewed self-confidence. We are immensely proud of the platform's evolution and the support it offers to those striving for success.

In your opinion why is mentorship critical, especially for aspiring women leaders? What is your philosophy or success?

Mentorship is about sharing knowledge and experiences. Having had a mentor for myself, I understand the value of support and inspiration. It is not only a one-way street; it also allows us to learn from young leaders while we foster growth and guide them toward a successful future. Meaningful conversations can be transformative in dire situations. While imparting wisdom, I've drawn inspiration from young leaders, enriching my growth. Witnessing mentees thrive as they step into new realms is fulfilling. Supporting others in various capacities is essential in life. Mentorship holds a special place on my professional agenda, consistently guiding a mentee's journey alongside mine.

My success mantra is continuous learning and fostering innovation. Building trust and being a team player is equally important. Having a clear goal and a strategic direction is essential for success, empowering me to create something new and lead my team towards achieving our objectives.
