PepsiCo has been continuously working on empowering, inspiring, and mentoring women of all generations in Saudi through its "Tamakani" platform since its launch in 2019. The word Tamakani is derived from an Arabic word that means to 'enable'. This platform aims to empower 1 million Saudi Women by the year 2030. In the last five years, last year in 2022 there has been a notable increase of 35% in the workforce by women which is commendable.
According to PepsiCo, Empowering women has become a priority as it is at the core of Vision 2030's values and their intrinsic values.
While introducing the initiative, the proposal aimed to Amplify Voices, Facilitating Mentorship, and Fostering Entrepreneurship to fill up the various holes that are faced in the corporate sector.
PepsiCo has been working with those organizations which support women’s empowerment to provide women with the resources, information, and skills that they need to become empowered.
The first female-owned and managed production company in Saudi, Eggdancer Production collaboratively worked with Tamakani- to create "Rise- The Journey of Women in Saudi Arabia."
PepsiCo wanted to provide a platform to those women who struggled in their lives and their stories are unsung through the Amplifying Voices pillar. The Family Affairs Council and Mozn Podcast collaborated to create the podcast. This platform serves women to share both personal and professional success stories with others which serves as an inspiration.
As a part of PepsiCo’s sponsored Women in Business Committee, Tamakani collaborated with AmCham to launch the Diwaniya Quarterly event. AmCham is a platform for the American business community to connect, grow and succeed in the Kingdom. It provides a safe place for both men and women executives in the Kingdom to interact informally and have a discussion about business and social issues.
PepsiCo also collaborated with Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University which is the largest women's university in the world to support, the "Qudwah" program to facilitate the mentorship pillar.
Tamakani aims to empower more than 70 women by the end of 2023. This program has to date empowered 68 beneficiaries to start a rewarding path.
As Tamakani has been a great start to help out Saudi Women to start their careers in different sectors, it has also collaborated with Al-Nahda Society which offers "Fursa" and "Himmah" programs that have spent more than 60 years empowering Saudi Women.
