According to the Emirates News Agency, the 16th meeting of the UAE-Japan Friendship Committee for Women Career Development was conducted in Abu Dhabi on 5th June, with the goal of empowering women in the energy sector.
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the head of the General Women's Union, served as the forum's sponsor. Dr. Maitha Salem Al-Shamsi, the UAE's minister of state, Tsuyoshi Nakai, executive director of the Japan Cooperation Centre Petroleum, top executives from Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., and representatives from energy corporations in the UAE, Japan, and other Gulf nations were also present.
During her speech, Al-Shamsi emphasised her unwavering support for gatherings that strengthen connections between the UAE and Japan and that help women reach their full potential.
The oil and gas business has made considerable strides towards gender diversity, but Al-Shamsi said that more work still to be done to guarantee that women in this field enjoy equal advantages in terms of performance and production.
"In order to do this, it is necessary to provide women greater participation possibilities and give them the self-assurance they need to work on the front lines and in all professions. I applaud ADNOC for realising that a talented, diverse, and dedicated team is essential to the organization's growth and success.”
ADNOC is aiming to become a regional leader in diversity and staff development as part of its 2030 Sustainability Strategy.
Women are essential to a more sustainable future, according to ADNOC Offshore CEO Tayba Al-Hashemi.
"ADNOC has made excellent progress in empowering women under the direction of Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al-Jaber, minister of industry and advanced technology and ADNOC managing director and group CEO. We have ambitious plans to double female representation in technical positions to 25% by 2030.
In keeping with the UAE leadership's goal, we will continue to empower women and make sure all of our employees can realise their potential in order to contribute to the creation of a more sustainable future. "We need diverse thinking to deliver the maximum energy and minimum emissions the world needs."
