The Africa Governance Centre, in partnership with Ghana’s Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, will host the Africa Women Political Leadership Summit 2025 on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The Summit aims to promote impactful policy discussions, inspire leadership, and create a clear path for enhancing women’s involvement in governance.
This exclusive summit will gather prominent women leaders, policymakers, governance experts, and key stakeholders from and across Africa to discuss the current state of women’s political leadership and explore ways to enhance their representation and influence in governance.
The summit, themed "Women and Politics in Africa: Progress, Challenges, and Prospects," will offer a platform for important discussions on accomplishments, ongoing challenges, and future opportunities for women in politics. The event will include a variety of activities, such as opening remarks and keynote speeches from prominent African women leaders and policymakers.
Plenary sessions and panel discussions will focus on key topics like political representation, leadership challenges, electoral reforms, and strategies for inclusive governance. Strategy dialogues will bring together policymakers, civil society organizations, and governance bodies to discuss actionable solutions for enhancing women’s leadership.
A special recognition segment will celebrate select women leaders for their outstanding contributions to political leadership and governance across the continent.
By uniting influential voices in African politics and policy, the summit seeks to encourage collaboration and innovation in advancing gender-inclusive leadership, ultimately supporting the development of more equitable and representative governance structures across Africa.
