4 Women leaders to win Hydro Vision Award

During the HYDROVISION International 2024 luncheon, a total of 4 consecutive women shall be named as Women with Hydro Vision award winners. On July 12, 2024, a lunch shall take place during the event that will be held from July 15 to 18 in Denver, Colo., U.S.

Clarion Energy’s Hydro Group has been giving this award to the influential women in hydropower while also recognizing their accomplishments and industry contributions. This year’s award shall be the tenth class of recipients.

The honourees of 2024 award includes Priscilla Dornas, senior engineering manager, Brasil PCH; Isha Shrestha, director, Nilgiri Khola Hydropower Company Limited (Nepal); Rebecca Simpson, civil engineer, Grant County PUD; and Rocío Uría-Martínez, senior R&D, Environmental Sciences Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

These women have been making changes in the industry with their prowess and resilience. Priscilla has been with Brasil PCH for over a decade while the firm owns 13 small hydro power plants that totals to over 300 MW of installed power. In addition, Isha forayed for a career in hydropower with Himalayan Infrastructure Fund Ltd in the year 2013 that shows her dedication towards the industry whereas Rebecca began her career as a hydro engineering technician at Grant County PUD in the year 2010, making her an expert in the field. Moreover, Rocío began her research in 2010 at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) keeping the focus on the energy sector, water resources and environmental economics.
