The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs hosted a one-day Information and Communications Technology (ICT) training and workshop in Anambra State as part of the 50 Million African Women Speak Project (50MAWSP) to empower female entrepreneurs. Mrs. Ngozi Muo, the Anambra State Representative, emphasized the program's importance in boosting women's enterprises using ICT.
The 50MAWSP initiative, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), aims to empower 50 million women entrepreneurs in 38 African nations, including Nigeria. Mrs. Muo stressed the project's importance in delivering free entrepreneurial training, financial services, online business prospects, and training tools via the 50MAWSP App.
Mrs. Chinyere Otuonye, 50MAWSP Southeast Regional Representative, led the training on unlocking business potential, overcoming obstacles, and leveraging ICT tools for company success. Mrs. Nkechi Obinwa, a YouTuber and 50MAWSP Anambra State member, shared information on YouTube and WhatsApp business installation.
Participants took part in a Q&A session titled "To Enlighten Target Groups on Other Opportunities Through the Use of ICT." The event intended to economically empower women, in line with the goal of Barrister Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs, who, during a visit to Anambra State in September 2023, encouraged women to create clusters and engage in planned economic empowerment programs. Barrister Ohanenye is actively working with NGOs to realize this objective and connect foreign communities to Anambra State.
