Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has appointed community member Almas Muscatwalla to the board of commissioners of DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas.

Almas Muscatwalla is welcomed by DHA to its board of commissioners, which is becoming more involved and diverse, according to a statement from Troy Broussard, president, and chief executive officer of DHA. He said, "We appreciate the mayor's deliberate attention to adding community activists who are dedicated to enhancing the availability of affordable housing across seven counties DHA serves to our board.

The goal of DHA is to give people in North Texas exposure to supportive resources and decent, affordable housing. Creating a "welcoming space for all" in Dallas

To bring together religious leaders from all faiths to stand together for social justice issues such as migrant and refugee difficulties, homelessness, gun violence, and racial equity, Muscatwalla co-founded Faith Forward Dallas in 2015.

The Islamic Art Revival Series, Texas Muslim Women's Foundation, United Nations Organization Dallas Chapter, DFW Muslim Jewish Advisory Council, and Compassionate DFW are just a few of the organizations she has helped lead outreach efforts for. She has also had a position on the Thanks-Giving Foundation's board of directors.

The Board of Commissioners is in charge of establishing policy, and they work with DHA's senior leadership team to define the organization's goal, vision, and strategy.

"Our city's primary objective is to make sure that able-to-work residents have access to high-quality, affordable housing in vibrant, healthy communities," Johnson said in a speech. I'm proud to appoint Almas Muscatwalla to the DHA commissioners board to keep Dallas a welcome home for all of our family. Almas is a strong and committed community leader.
