INSKIN COSMEDICS, a Sydney-based company noted for its 'cosmedical' inventions, has received a strategic investment from the Australian Business Growth Fund (ABGF). While financial specifics are not released, ABGF generally invests between $5 million and $15 million for a minority ownership in established, developing companies.
INSKIN COSMEDICS, founded in 2007 by Maria Enna-Cocciolone, has grown from a skincare product importer to a creator of specialty therapies. It bridges the gap between over-the-counter skincare and prescription-only medical treatments by providing products containing active ingredients for a variety of skin disorders and general skin health.
INSKIN COSMEDICS is responsible for in-house brands such as O Cosmedics and GINGER&ME, as well as global distribution agreements and collaborations with professional skincare clinics. They also provide clinics in New Zealand and Canada with supplies.
INSKIN COSMEDICS is the first woman-founded firm in ABGF's portfolio, thanks to this investment. Ghazaleh Lyari, co-head of investments at ABGF, praised Maria Enna-Cocciolone for her foresight in the 'cosmedical' industry, highlighting the growing potential of medicalized skincare.
ABGF intends to close the financing gap in the Australian venture capital landscape for female-led scaleup enterprises, which is critical to the country's economic success. Following this investment, ABGF is looking for other female-founded businesses that are changing sectors and having a good effect.
