ACCIONA Champions Women's Inclusion in Qatar Water Industry with Targeted Training

In a strategic move to bridge the gender gap in the water industry, ACCIONA, a global leader in provision of regenerative solutions, has unveiled a pioneering Operational Skills Development programme for women in Qatar. The six-months training programme commits to foster gender diversity and professional growth for aspiring female professionals. The training offers a structured learning experience covering technical and operational aspects of the sector.

Through interactive, hands-on learning, participants will gain first-hand experience in plant operations and maintenance. With direct guidance from experienced project managers and industry, they will gain critical insights into plant functionality and key operational department processes, preparing them for success in field for more inclusive and sustainable future.

With women comprising over 30 percent of the Operations and Management team, marks as a key milestone in workforce diversity. Aligned with Qatar’s Development Agenda, ACCIONA remains committed to expanding women workforce and skills aligning with Qatar’s vision. With targeting women to gain technical skills, the programme offers training and potential career opportunities upon its completion.

By equipping women with essential skills and industry knowledge, ACCIONA is paving the way for a more inclusive and dynamic workforce in the water sector. The Operational Skills Development Programme focuses on three fundamental areas of growth. Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) is the first key component, serves in maintaining a secure and sustainable work setting. The second area, Beginner-Level Technical training, is designed for individuals with no prior industry experience. Lastly the programme emphasizes behavioural training, built on respect, inclusivity, and strong professional values.

Through targeted training, the programme empowers participants to recognize and respond to sensitive issues like discrimination, harassment, and victimization, fostering a supportive and ethical workplace for all employees. After completion of the six-months training, trainees will be evaluated for potential roles at ACCIONA’s desalination plants, ensuring a seamless transition into the sector.
