ACCIONA Tackles Gender Disparity with Skills Development Program for Women in Qatar

  • ACCIONA has launched an Operational Skills Development Programme to promote women's participation in Qatar's growing water sector.

  • Participants will gain hands-on experience and mentorship from experienced project managers and operations heads.

 

Sustainable infrastructure solutions provider ACCIONA has introduced a new Operational Skills Development Programme aimed at empowering women from diverse backgrounds. This six-month training initiative will provide participants with real-world exposure to the technical, operational, and behavioral facets of the industry. Through hands-on experience and mentorship from seasoned project managers and operations leaders, the programme is designed to equip women with the critical skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the water sector.

The Operational Skills Development Programme is designed for women with strong ties to local culture and society, aiming to develop technical skills in the water industry. The programme focuses three core areas: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Awareness, Technical Training, Behavioral Training

Based on the availability of roles at ACCIONA’s water plants, participants may be offered formal employment opportunities. By this great opportunity Participants will gain hands-on experience in key O&M projects such as: Ras Abu Fontas RO desalination plant, Umm al Houl RO desalination plant. This experience aims to prepare participants for a seamless transition into the workforce and various roles within the water industry.

The three courses covers:

HSE Awareness: Participants learn essential Health, Safety, and Environment standards for safe and sustainable operations, Technical Training: The programme covers basic to advanced concepts in plant operations and maintenance for beginners, Behavioral Training: Focuses on creating a respectful and inclusive workplace, addressing issues like discrimination and harassment.

Over 30% of ACCIONA’s Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team in Qatar is comprised of women, marking a significant achievement in a traditionally male-dominated field.

The programme reflects ACCIONA’s dedication to promoting inclusion and aligns with its long-term vision of increasing female representation in its workforce. By offering opportunities for women in technical and operational roles in the water industry, ACCIONA helps address the labor shortage.
