Accomplished Indian-American Businesswoman Shamina Singh Appointed to US President's Export Council

Shamina Singh, a prominent Indian-American businesswoman, has been appointed to the President's Export Council, the primary government advisory body for foreign commerce. This significant move comes after US President Joe Biden expressed his intention to include Shamina in the council. In addition to her role as Executive Vice President of Sustainability at Mastercard, Shamina is also the founder and president of the Mastercard Centre for Inclusive Growth.

Expressing her gratitude, Shamina stated, "It is an immense honor for me to be a part of the distinguished leaders that make up the President's Export Council." She further added, "I have always gravitated towards work that contributes to the creation of inclusive, long-lasting prosperity for people and economies in the US and throughout the world. With over 20 years of international expertise, Shamina has developed a unique social impact model that leverages both public and private sector resources. Her leadership has significantly contributed to Mastercard's global reputation for success through its commitment to inclusive growth, as highlighted in a White House statement.

One of Shamina’s notable achievements is the establishment of the Mastercard Impact Fund in 2018, with an initial investment of $500 million. As its president, she has been entrusted with the responsibility of utilizing these funds to promote equitable growth and financial inclusion on a global scale.

Throughout her career, Shamina has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the public good. She has held important positions in the White House and the US House of Representatives, serving as the inaugural Executive Director of the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In 2015, she was selected by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate to serve a six-year term on the AmeriCorps board.

In addition to her contributions in the business and governmental sectors, Shamina serves on the boards of the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders and the Anti-Defamation League.
