African Girls Can Code (AGCCI) Initiative Phase II application calls for participation in coding camps

The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) will organize the first coding camp in Zanzibar from February 27 to March 10, 2023, and UN Women Tanzania is putting out a call for applications for suitable girls to attend.

To put at least 2,000 African women on the path to pursuing education and careers in the data, technology, and technology (ICT) fields, the project will train and authorize them towards becoming computer programmers, developers, and designers. 

Coding camps as well as the inclusion of ICT, programming, and sexism into national curricula are the two key initiatives that are the focus of the project.

The United Republic of Tanzania and the coding camps work closely together through the following.

  • Gender equality, special interest groups, and the Department of Women
  • Department of Science and Technology, Education
  • Government Department of Technology, Telecommunications, and Technology

Benefits of Phase II of the African Girls Could Code Initiative

The Tanzanian group in charge of running inaugural African Girls could now CODE programme will give the following to the participants after a selection process:

  • A 10-day coding course taught following the AGCCI manual Resources
  • Stationery
  • Access to and from the training site in Zanzibar to be used both before and during the session is a laptop computer.

How much is the award worth?

Following a selection process, the participants will get the accompanying from either the Tanzanian team in responsibility of delivering the African Girls Could indeed CODE initiative:

  • A 10-day coding course taught under the AGCCI manual Resources.
  • Stationery.
  • Transportation to and from Dar es Salaam's training facility.
  • Throughout and after the course, students may use laptop computers.
