Albanian Women Entrepreneurs Excel at Tirana's EXPO Event

Over 40 women-led firms in Albania took center stage at the "Women's Entrepreneurship EXPO" satellite event in Tirana on October 27, 2023, in a magnificent demonstration of empowerment and ingenuity. The event aims to promote the growth of local women-led firms and foster collaboration between entrepreneurs and investors by collaborating with private sector partners, government institutions, and stakeholders.

Entrepreneurs from a variety of industries, including food and agricultural production, fashion, and education, took part, gaining knowledge in e-commerce, digital transformation, and gaining insights into getting funding and applying vital business tools for sustainability.

In her opening remarks, Elisa Fernandez Saenz, UN Women's Deputy Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, expressed her excitement, saying, "I am thrilled to see so many women entrepreneurs from Albania joining the EXPO satellite event, showcasing their stories and products, and connecting with potential investors."

UN Women Representative to Albania Michele Ribotta stressed the importance of women's business in promoting economic growth, improving lives, and furthering gender equality. Ekaterina Solovova, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Albania, emphasized the importance of the event in terms of networking and inspiration for women entrepreneurs.

The EXPO helped women entrepreneurs connect with possible investors by providing a venue for presenting products, exchanging knowledge, and discussing difficulties. The Swedish Ambassador in Albania, Niklas Ström, praised the perseverance of Albanian women entrepreneurs and lauded the event as a source of inspiration for budding entrepreneurs.

The satellite event, organized by UN Women Albania in conjunction with important state institutions, the European Bank for Construction and Development, the Women's Chamber of Commerce, and private sector enterprises, was part of the regional Women's Entrepreneurship EXPO 2023, which took place from November 16 to 17, 2023.
