Recently, Aurora Tech Award revealed its Top 120 women founders for the year 2025 with Nigeria taking center stage. Aurora Tech Award, is an annual award which celebrates the boldest and most ambitious female founders in emerging markets.
Some of the names of these female founders are Aashika Abraham for MAMMA-MIYA; Abigail Maria Sol for Deya; Adriana Gonzalez for tizo; Alessia Frasson for Blooomers, amongst others.
Nigeria is leading the longlist with a total of 21 founders, out of record-breaking 2,018 applications coming from 116 countries. This step marks its position as a hub specific for innovation as well as female entrepreneurship. Amidst the award, Brazil along with Unites States follow, having Egypt closely behind.
Some of the other contributors includes Colombia, Kenya, the United Kingdom, India, alongside Kazakhstan.
Moreover, Aurora Tech Awards head Isabella Ghassemi-Smith stated, “The Aurora Top 120 is a first for us this year, created from a three-month open call that attracted over 2,000 applications from female founders. Through a rigorous selection process, we’ve identified 120 standout women entrepreneurs who are building bold and innovative businesses in emerging markets. These founders are poised to shape the future of their industries and countries, making them the ones to watch in 2025.”
The Aurora Tech Award of 2025 not only underscores Nigeria’s emerging talent but also highlights the growing influence of the country in tech and startup ecosystem.
