A new grants programme has been introduced by the Australian government in Victoria with an intent towards advancing research on women’s health issues. This programme will offer $924.2k (A$1.5m) in ‘Women’s Health Research Catalyst Grants’.

One-year research projects will be awarded with grants between $31,000 (A$50,000) and $92,400 (A$150,000) approximately. These projects will be focusing on the comparison of sex and gender or under-researched conditions affecting women. Some of the key areas for research involves sexual and reproductive health, cardiovascular health, oncology, orthopaedics, and chronic pain.

All the applicants must have affiliation from Victorian Administering Institution, conducting research in fields that includes discovery, pre-clinical, clinical, or lived experience studies.

With the rising health issues, it is important for everyone to focus on their health and most important, there should be enough research about women’s health issues in order to understand the changes and if there’s any problem then that could be tackled with proper medications. This new grant programme will ensure the significance is given to women’s health issues and the participants are taking serious charge on the research of these issues.

With the funding amount, the Women’s Health Research Catalyst Grants will given women the possibility of moving further in the research.
