AWE & Amazon Triple Cohort, Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Brazil

The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) in Brazil has increased its cohort size from 25 to 90 women entrepreneurs as a result of a strategic cooperation between the US Department of State and Amazon. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs founded AWE in 2019 with the goal of empowering women internationally by providing them with the information, tools, and networks required for successful company development and growing.

The relationship made Amazon's learning goods more accessible, underscoring the importance of e-commerce in a fast-rising economy. The three-month curriculum includes online learning, moderated seminars, expert workshops, and pitch practice using the 100 Million Learners BootCamp on Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Ana Peres Nascimento, the first-place winner of AWE's pitch competition, co-founded Pretas na Ciência, an organization dedicated to combatting sexism and racism in science. Nascimento is establishing a website with the help of AWE and Amazon to create a larger network for women in STEM, giving training and linking them with possible employment.

Anna Karolina de Sousa Bernardes, the creator of Uai Português, a language school that teaches Portuguese to foreign language speakers, is another success story. AWE enabled her to shift from a language instructor to a self-assured entrepreneur, with plans to extend her internet firm abroad.

Karoline Kuhn's Studio Kuhn addresses fashion industry waste by upcycling discarded fabrics. Kuhn was assisted by AWE and Amazon in designing an innovation strategy that not only focuses on sustainability but also has a good social impact by incorporating disadvantaged persons and encouraging educational exchanges.

These success stories demonstrate the influence of AWE's public-private collaborations in fostering a sisterhood of female entrepreneurs in Brazil and abroad. The relationship with Amazon strengthens AWE's ability to invest in and empower women throughout the world.
