The inaugural AWS Women's Demo Week has been announced by Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN).
This worldwide event, which will take place from November 6 to 10, 2023, intends to connect women-led firms with investors, therefore solving the gender financing gap and boosting female entrepreneurs.
AWS Women's Demo Week will take place in 18 locations around the world, including New York, London, So Paulo, and Lagos.
This campaign, supported by groups such as Ajim Capital, Founderland, GrindstoneXL, and Mogul Millennial, allows female founders to present their companies to possible investors, partners, consumers, and stakeholders.
"AWS Women's Demo Week highlights the resilience and creativity of female founders, bridging the funding gap and demonstrating that women-led startups deserve investment," said Kathryn Van Nuys, Global Head of Specialized Startup Segments at AWS.
The gender financing gap remains a key issue, with just 2.3% of worldwide venture capital funding flowing to women-only formed firms in 2020, and this figure is expected to fall further. AWS Women's Demo Week aims to overcome these inequities by creating relationships and encouraging diversity in the tech industry.
"AWS connected Alt/Finance with a VC who committed a $1 million investment," said Sharon Obuobi, CEO and Founder of Alt/Finance. These are the opportunities created by AWS."
AWS provides chosen participants with $10,000 in AWS Activate credits, access to technical specialists, and connections to the URF startup ecosystem, in addition to presenting businesses.
AWS Women's Demo Week is a key step toward a more equal digital environment, providing a promising opportunity for female-led enterprises to prosper.
