International trade is a cornerstone that drives economies, brings in prosperity and cooperation amongst countries worldwide. Capitalizing on the same, a group of dynamic women entrepreneurs from Bangladesh will soon embark on a trade mission to the United Kingdom in February. Guided under the leadership from the UK Government SheTrades Programme, the mission is set to include eight businesses.

Engaging in senior-level discussions with investors, lawmakers and business leaders is the agenda, and vision carried by these women leaders. The end result is to give a boost to the bilateral trade between the two countries under the initiative of UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), as outlined in a press release. TMSS ICT and Handicrafts, SuperTel, Opus Technology, Tarango Bangladesh, Parijat Bangladesh, TANIS Bangladesh, and Leatherina are the chosen businesses from Bangladesh.

The initiative is aimed at bringing 50-women lead businesses from four Asian nations (Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Mongolia) and six African countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique) is headed by International Trade Centre to Manchester on 11 February to hold business-to-business (B2B) meetings with UK companies.

To commemorate the importance of this trade, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke held a farewell reception at her residence for the entrepreneurs before their official departure to the UK. It is worth mentioning that under the UK’ Developing Countries Trading System (DCTC), Bangladesh benefits duty-free and quote free-trade on all products except arms. Bangladesh also benefits by saving £317m in tariffs annually on its export to the UK.
