Economist Clare Lombardelli will serve as the 5th female person in the nine-person policy-setting committee of the British central bank. She has been nominated by the Bank of England on February 29, 2024. For the first time in history, the bank is going to have a majority of females in their monetary policy committee. This seems a great step by Bank of England towards a gender-inclusive workplace.
Clare Lombardelli is currently serving as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s chief economist. She will be starting her 5-year term from July 1, 2024, as the Deputy Governor with Ben Broadbent. Initially, she began her professional journey with Bank of England and besides, she also holds a work experience with International Monetary Fund and at Downing Street which is the British prime minister's office.
