During the celebration of Founders + Fund (Her)s Pitch Day on March 26, 2024, a non-profit organisation (NGO), BasBlue Foundation has granted $17,500 to 3 female founders. Having founded in 2021, the foundation’s main focus is to empower women and non-binary individuals.
A competition has been organized for underrepresented communities’ early-stage entrepreneurs in order to provide them with mentorship, exposure in addition to funding for the growth their businesses.
The winners of the competition are:
1. Andrea Davis, Founder, Linked Workforce LLC (1st Place)
Andrea was awarded with $10,000 after winning the competition. She has nearly decades of experience in resource and workforce management. Prior to founding this firm, she was the director of resource management in Baker Tilly US.
2. Trinity Brown, CEO and Founder, Trinity Barbara (2nd Place)
Trinity being a BBA student founded the firm with a dedication for marketing and strategy. Before founding Trinity Barbara, she has interned with Detroit Venture Partners as a Venture Fellow.
3. Bri Muhammad, Founder and CEO, The Beaute Loft (3rd Place)
Besides being the founder of the firm, she is an independent R& D chemist in addition to beauty brand expert. She is also the founder and CEO of Green Beauty Labs along with establishing Ecological Wellness Collective, a health and wellness brand.
Nancy Tellem, Co-Founder of BasBlue said, “BasBlue is committed to empowering women founders, especially women of colour. We provide more than just financial backing; we offer resources, mentorship, and a supportive community to ensure their success.”
Additionally, another Co-Founder of BasBlue, Natacha Hildebrand stated, “When we empower women entrepreneurs, we empower our communities. Their businesses create jobs and boost the local economy. Investing in women is not only good for business, but it’s the right thing to do.”
