In honor of World Contraception Day, Bayer's Pharmaceuticals Division in Asia/Pacific unveiled plans to broaden the 'Bayer For Her' campaign, which was initially introduced in Thailand in September 2022. Singapore, South Korea, Taipei City, and other ASEAN markets, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, have all joined the initiative's expanded geographic reach.
A call to action encouraging Asian women to freely share their health difficulties, such as menstrual pain, endometriosis, contraception, and heavy monthly flow, "Bayer For Her" is more than just an awareness campaign. In order to empower women in the area, the initiative strives to fight social stigma and to promote health screenings, psychological assistance, and flexible working conditions.
Alarming data serve as the campaign's motivation. In Singapore, where monthly bleeding is common, women are more likely to develop deep infiltrating endometriosis. According to a survey by Doctor Anywhere and Bayer on women's health, eight out of ten Singaporean women experience menstrual problems. Furthermore, according to the Guttmacher Institute, 132 million Asian women of reproductive age do not have access to contemporary contraception.
In order to achieve gender equality and sustainable development, Bayer is dedicated to educating 100 million women in low- and middle-income countries about family planning by the year 2030. Bayer holds the view that women's health and rights are essential to these goals.
"Bayer For Her" exhorts women to put their health first, communicate with medical professionals, and speak up about their health issues. The cause has gathered support from thousands of Bayer employees, several partners, NGOs, and healthcare professionals.
Initiatives Across Asia/Pacific:
Indonesia: Livestreams and health talks on contraception and reproductive health were arranged in association with the Indonesia Midwives Association and the National Family Planning Coordinating Board.
Malaysia: As part of the "Choose with Confidence" program, Bayer collaborated with the National Population and Family Development Board to provide low-income women with counseling and discounted contraception.
Philippines: To give women a safe place to talk about reproductive health, the initiative began with free pop-up consulting clinics.
Singapore: A study on women's health conducted in conjunction with Doctor Anywhere found that coworkers should do better to grasp the issues affecting women's health. Internal programs are designed to assist female employees.
South Korea: Bayer Korea reached millions of people with its menstrual health survey by using influencers. Clinics were given educational materials.
