In a recent announcement, Black Girl Vitamins (BGV) has revealed about a scholarship fund of $100,000 that is dedicated towards Black women who are pursuing medical professions at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
This particular scholarship is a 2-year initiative and a part of the firm’s broader mission that aims towards assisting health equity with a focus on increasing representation in healthcare by easing the aspiring medical professionals’ financial burden.
This scholarship program of BGV is being aligned with the firm’s mission for creating Black women’s new generation in certain sector like medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and public health. It is open for all Black women who have enrolled themselves in accredited medical programs at HBCUs.
Head of Marketing at BGV Anna Palomino stated, “We know better care happens when providers and patients share similar life experiences.”
The students must show their need of finance in order to get qualified while maintain a 3.0 GPA in minimum and submit an essay of 300 words. They have to outline their healthcare aspirations in the essay as well as the commitment for serving underrepresented communities. Besides the scholarship, the firm has also partnered with Women’s Basketball team of Howard University and has donated a total of $100,000 worth of vitamins in the year 2024.
