In a recent announcement, Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) revealed about the appointment of Fatema AlAlawi to the position of Chief Executive Officer, making her the first ever woman CEO in Islamic banking sector of Bahrain. This marks a historic move as well as a milestone for gender equality within the financial industry.
Founded in 1979, BisB caters in the Banking industry with headquarters in Manama, Diplomatic Area, having specialities in Visa Credit Cards, MasterCard Credit Cards, Tejoori Savings Account, Iqra Investment Scheme, 3D Secure Service, Al Thuraya Privileged Banking, Project Financing, Real Estate Financing and much more.
In addition, Fatema has been working with the bank since 2023 as Chief Retail Banking Officer. Prior to joining here, she was associated with Al Baraka Islamic Bank B.S.C. – Bahrain as Chief Retail Officer for over 4 years. Some of her other career experiences include Aion Digital where Fatema worked for over a year as Chief Business Officer and at Islamic International Rating Agency (IIRA) as Vice President. Earlier she was working with BisB as Assistant General Manager - Acting Head of Retail from 2007 to 2017.
