A renowned British journalist Barbara Taylor Bradford has died at the age of 91. She passed away in New York at her home. Throwing light on her life journey, she is the one who secured her place as a publishing sensation during her 40s for ‘A Woman of Substance’. She has written over a dozen novels which sold 10 million of copies.

Born on 1933 in Armley, Barbara Taylor published her most selling book in 1979 and accomplished the title of one of the most popular and wealthiest writers of the world with a net worth over $200 million (estimated). In 1999, her image also appeared on a postage stamp due to her high fame.

In a New York Times review of Piers Dudgeon’s biography, Sophie Harrison stated, “Because Bradford’s heroines resemble their author in their fabulous wealth and determination — and because the author has a passing resemblance to Margaret Thatcher in the matters of hair-span and go-getter ideology — it seems to have got around that Bradford is a feminist. Well, perhaps, in the same way that Imelda Marcos is a feminist but hers is still a world in which a woman is nothing without a husband.”

Amongst all the 40 novels, Bradford wrote her last one, ‘The Wonder Of It All’ which got published in the year 2023.
