By launching its pioneering programme, ReCALIbrate, the Council of Australian Life Insurers (CALI) has made a huge step towards increasing diversity in the financial advice profession. ReCALIbrate, which aims to empower female financial risk advisers, promises to increase representation and give important assistance to women in the field.
The initial programme will provide significant assistance to five mid-career female financial risk advisers, providing them with the skills they need to flourish in their sector. Each winner will get a $2,000 award to attend the forthcoming Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) Congress in Adelaide, which is planned to take place from November 20 to 22.
CALI CEO Christine Cupitt underlined the organization's commitment to developing female talent in the financial consulting field. "CALI believes it is critical to play our part in nurturing the next generation of female financial risk advisers to ensure a strong pipeline of talent and leadership while addressing Australia's declining number of financial advisers," she said. CALI is committed to exploring new methods to make life insurance more inclusive, so that our business reflects the communities we serve."
CALI board member and managing director of Clearview Wealth Limited Nadine Gooderick emphasised the importance of women in the financial services business. "Risk specialists play an important role in assisting people in understanding their life insurance needs, obtaining adequate coverage, and receiving benefits when they file a claim." Women have traditionally been under-represented in financial services, but this is changing, and we want to do our part to encourage women to seek careers in risk management and to build a diverse, inclusive profession."
ReCALIbrate extends beyond financial assistance. Each programme participant will be partnered with a senior female life insurance industry executive. These mentoring partnerships will include two in-person or virtual sessions that will serve as a forum for advice, support, and information sharing.
"Men outnumber women at industry conferences for a variety of reasons, including juggling family and carer responsibilities with day-to-day work," Christine Cupitt added. We want to do more to help women advance in our field."
"We applaud CALI's ReCALIbrate initiative and have a shared desire to encourage engagement among female financial risk advisers and foster the next generation of female talent," said Sarah Abood, CEO of FAAA. We hope to see the ReCALIbrate beneficiaries at the FAAA Congress in November."
ReCALIbrate is a critical opportunity for women to alter the life insurance market and create a brighter future for themselves and their customers, as CALI leads the way for gender diversity and inclusiveness in the financial advice sector.
