The Youth Channel International (YCI) is seeking applications for its impactful fellowship, HerStart International Fellows. The programme mobilizes Canadian volunteers to support women-led business and community organization. It aims to equip 10,000 women in Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda with entrepreneur skills.
With a focus on entrepreneurship and network-building, the fellowship programme drives meaningful and transformative change. Selected fellows will embark on immersive three-months international placements, contributing to YCI’s HerStart Innovate the Future Programme. This opportunity offers hand-on-experience while expanding their international network. Fellows will work alongside impact-driven teams in Africa to foster sustainable social development.
HerStart International Fellows receive extensive benefits, including thorough pre-departure training and dedicated post-placement support. They are provided with round-trip airfare, visa and health insurance coverage, and a monthly stipend. Fellows will also engage in practical international development work, with opportunities to specialize in pivotal issues like gender-equality, climate action, social innovation and human rights.
Selected candidates will be assigned to one of the designated HerStart Fellowship roles including Communications & Marketing Fellow, Research & Learning Fellow, Program & Partnerships Fellow or Social Entrepreneurship Fellow. These positions are strategically tailored to match the fellow’s expertise while addressing the programme’s dynamic requirements.
As eligibility criteria, the program welcomes Canadian citizens and permanent residents with a strong passion for international development, entrepreneurship and social impact. Candidates must possess strong collaboration and communication abilities, and be willing to commit three-month placement in Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda.
