The51, a venture firm and financial platform supporting women-led innovation, has announced the appointment of Lauren Robinson as Fund Managing Partner. Lauren will spearhead the next phase of growth for The51’s funds, joining Shelley Kuipers and Judy Fairburn as General Partners. This addition further strengthens the leadership team, positioning The51 for continued scale and success.
This strategic appointment allows Shelley and Judy to sharpen their focus as General Partners for Fund I and Fund II, ensuring both funds are set up for long-term success. Lauren’s leadership will play a key role in expanding The51’s venture funds, overseeing capital deployment, enhancing LP engagement, and driving strong financial returns.
With two decades of experience in venture capital, capital markets, and early-stage company development, Lauren brings extensive expertise in scaling high-growth startups, increasing access to capital, and a strong dedication to supporting women entrepreneurs and investors.
"Investing in women is a significant economic opportunity that’s often overlooked," said Lauren "The51 is demonstrating that supporting women-led innovation yields tangible results, and I’m thrilled to contribute to this next phase of financial growth, impact, and expansion."
Lauren joins The51 after co-founding Highline Beta’s pre-seed fund, investing in tech startups. She’s a key figure in Canada’s early-stage investing, having served on boards like the CVCA and the National Angel Capital Organization. Her leadership bridges the gap between startup growth and long-term value creation.
“The51 is transforming venture capital with a model that creates both financial returns and systemic change,” said Joins Shelley, CEO of The51. “We understand that our vision is long-term, and Lauren’s leadership and proven track record in venture investing make her the perfect fit to lead the next phase of growth for our funds.”
"We value Lauren’s disciplined approach to fund management, which will drive success for our current funds and founders, while also positioning The51 for its next phase of growth," said Judy Fairburn, Co-Founder and General Partner.
