City Pharmacy Limited Group (CPL) has partnered with the United Nations (UN) for Women Empowerment Principles Program on March 25, 2024. CPL is Papua New Guinea’s first organisation to join hands with the UN. The agreement was signed by head of UN Women PNG office, Adekemi Ndieli alongside CEO of CPL, Navin Raju at the headquarters of CPL in Port Moresby.
Women Empowerment Principles Program’s primary focus is to promote gender parity while fostering a comprehensive workplace, both in market level and community level. WEPP was set up in the year 2010 by UN Women along with UN Global Compact, as per Ms. Adekemi.
Ms Adekemi in a statement said, “Gender Equality and Gender Inequality are perhaps the most pervasive human rights issue across the world that has very huge economic consequences for all of society. We are aware that CPL on its own initiative has put into several measures and actions to advance the rights of women across this country. Therefore, we want to continue to support that so that it can foster a better business practice that empower women which include, equal pay for equal work and equal value.”
While Mr. Navin added, “Together we can shape a future where every individual, regardless of gender has the opportunity.”
This collaboration between CPL and UN Women shall benefit in women’s empowerment in Oceania and will give them a push towards growth.
