Following the sudden death of Jochen Goetz this summer, Daimler Truck, one of the world's major commercial vehicle manufacturers, has announced the appointment of Eva Scherer as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Eva, a seasoned executive from the German industrial conglomerate Siemens, will serve a three-year term ending March 31, 2027.
Eva, who is presently Executive Vice President and Global Head of Investor Relations at Siemens, has over two decades of expertise. According to a business release, the decision was made following an extensive screening process, as noted by Joe Kaeser, Chairman of Daimler's supervisory board.
The new CFO will be in charge of finance and controlling, and she has been nominated to Daimler Truck's executive board. Following Goetz's unexpected death from problems connected to a wasp sting, the company's top financial post had been temporarily handled by Martin Daum, Chairman of Daimler's management board.
In the announcement, both Kaeser and Michael Brecht, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board, praised Eva’s personal traits. Michael praised her as a "real team player," underlining the significance of teamwork in confronting the industry's historic transition.
Eva’s appointment will begin on April 1, 2024. Eva expressed thanks for her time at Siemens and her commitment to sustainable mobility in reaction to her new post, promising to assist in her "new capacity" at Daimler Truck. The firm recently reported a modest drop in sales volumes, which it attributed to supplier difficulties, although group revenue increased 3% in the third quarter of 2023.
