Recently, Dearborn has announced the launch of ‘Business Bootcamp’, to help out women entrepreneurs. A new program has also been unveiled entitled as ‘Dearborn Works’. Making an alliance with Arab American Women's Business Council, the new initiative has been introduced.
The applications for the new eight-week boot camp are now open for female entrepreneurs in Dearborn. In addition, the camp has been designed with 8 consecutive classes which shall cover certain subjects that includes marketing and financial planning.
Along with the Board of Directors of AAWBC, Jameleh Haidous said, “In order to apply, they either live here or have a business that operates in the city to help them either advance professionally or to help them launch a business or grow and scale their businesses. We're hoping that this is going to be so successful that we are going to find a way to get the funding to continue this program, hopefully for years to come. But just don't give up. So, if you apply and you don't make it into the initial round, there are going to be other opportunities as well.”
Moreover, the program has been funded by U.S. Department of Labor’s grant. Abdullah Hammoud, the Mayor of Dearborn added, “I think that's what the government needs to be doing: demonstrating to its residents and community members what they do on a daily basis to help improve the lives of those that they're elected to do.”
