From June 6 to June 9, 2023, Isobel Coleman, the Deputy Administrator of USAID, will travel to Pakistan to commemorate the U.S.'s support of Pakistan's flood relief and recovery efforts and to underscore its dedication to its more than 75-year partnership with Pakistan. The Deputy Administrator will visit the areas of Sindh that have experienced flooding, where she will meet people from the area that have suffered greatly as a result of the disastrous flood conditions. Isobel will meet with Pakistani officials in Islamabad to discuss the strategies used for flood relief, infectious diseases brought on by it, global health security, malnutrition, and the relationship between climate change and health. Isobel is also the head of the U.S. delegation at the U.S.-Pakistan Health Dialogue.
Isobel Coleman's following trip will take place in India from June 9 to June 14, 2023. Regarding USAID's joint initiatives with the Government of India to advance climatic action, close the gender digital divide, increase women's economic empowerment, and also improve health outcomes, she will meet with a variety of partners and stakeholders.
Deputy Isobel will lead the U.S. delegation to the Group of 20 (G20) Development Ministers Meeting in Varanasi, India, where she will emphasize the U.S. government's commitment to partnerships and group initiatives that help advance localization, climate action, women-led development, as well as the use of data in the development process.
