Nigeriar's secondary school girls have been urged by the digital services business Globacom to pursue jobs in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry in order to aid in the development of their nation.
Globacom urged girls who want to pursue careers in ICT and the sciences in general to continue their pursuit of excellence and achievement at the 2023 Girls in ICT Day, which was hosted at the Oriental Hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos.
Speaking at the occasion, Globacom representative Mrs. Adeniji Adeboye, Head of HNIs at the company's Enterprise Business Group, urged schoolgirls not to give up on their aspirations since "persistence drives success" in all human pursuits.
Adeniji also challenged them to concentrate on their studies so they might advance to play significant roles in the ICT sector, where there are now fewer women active.
Globacom collaborated with e-Business Life Communication Limited to mark Girls In ICT Day in 2023. The programme included mentorship and awareness workshops for females and kids from chosen schools in the states of Lagos and Ogun.
The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) created the International Girls in ICT Day. This year's event has "Digital Skills For Life" as its subject. This day is dedicated to encouraging females to pursue employment in the different information and communication technology industries.
