Diversity Arts Australia, in partnership with Women NSW, is presenting the ‘Breaking Ground: Women in Arts and Creativity Symposium’ to showcase the extraordinary talents of culturally diverse, Bla(c) k, migrant, refugee women, and gender-diverse creatives in the arts, screen, and cultural sectors.

Diversity Arts Australia (DARTS) is the national voice for ethno-cultural and migrant racial equity in the arts, cultural, and creative industries. DARTS receives core support from Creative Australia and Create NSW.

Lena Nahlous, CEO of DARTS, describes Breaking Ground as more than just an event—it’s a platform. The symposium aims to celebrate creative talent and forge pathways for leadership, representation, and equity in the arts industry.

It reflects Diversity Arts' commitment to amplifying diverse women’s voices in the arts. The event seeks to ensure the recognition of women’s stories and contributions in the creative sector.

Cecilia Anthony, DARTS chairperson, emphasizes that coming together creates change. She highlights that the symposium is a testament to the power of diverse women in the arts as storytellers, visionaries, and leaders shaping the future of the industry.

Breaking Ground aims to lift each other, strengthen networks, and demand space for women in Australia’s creative landscape. Systemic barriers continue to limit access, visibility, and leadership opportunities for diverse women in the creative sector.

The symposium provides a critical space for networking, connection, and collective action to address these challenges and also receives organizational support from Arts and Cultural Exchange.
