EcoPlum achieves Dual-Certification as Women-Owned Business by New York State & New York City

By: GWL Team | Friday, 30 June 2023

The sustainable promotional goods firm EcoPlum announced that New York State (NYS) and New York City (NYC) have just recognised it as a woman-owned business on 29th June, 2023. The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) has recognised EcoPlum as a women-owned enterprise on a national level since 2017.

As a triple-certified women-owned business with a socially responsible and ecologically minded objective, EcoPlum now has two important additional credentials to increase its impact and reach in additional York. Businesses that are majority owned, run, and controlled by women or people of colour are recognised by the NYS MWBE (New York State Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise) and NYC M/WBE (Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise) certificates.

According to Gia Machlin, president and chief executive officer of EcoPlum, "We are thrilled to receive women-owned business certification from both New York State and New York City, highlighting our active participation within an amazing and powerful community of women entrepreneurs in New York who are making a difference and doing good with their prosperous businesses.”

With these new certifications from New York State (NYS) and New York City (NYC) as a women-owned business, EcoPlum will have access to a variety of options and gain more recognition. The certificates provide a number of benefits, including:

1. Recognition and Credibility: The certificates help the firm stand out from rivals and increase its credibility within the local and state business community as well as among governmental organisations. They also help it be recognised as a women-owned business.

2. Access to Opportunities: Many governmental organisations, academic institutions, and enterprises actively strive to interact with and encourage the expansion of women-owned businesses. EcoPlum can access a variety of contracts, partnerships, and procurement possibilities that are reserved for women-owned businesses by acquiring certification.

3. Networking and Support: The certifications provide EcoPlum access to a strong network of like-minded businesswomen, trade associations, and groups fighting to advance women in the workplace. This network provides useful tools, mentoring programmes, education, and networking opportunities that promote community support and corporate success.

4. Supplier Diversity Programmes: Many businesses and governmental organisations have supplier diversity initiatives in place to connect and work with different enterprises. The certificates raise EcoPlum's eligibility for these programmes and provide it access to a larger group of potential clients and consumers who value doing business with women-owned companies.

5. Advocacy and Impact: EcoPlum joins the collective voice advocating for gender equality, inclusiveness, and representation in the business world as a triple certified women-owned business (NYC, NYC, WBENC). The accreditation gives the business the ability to take an active part in programmes, forums, and conversations about policy that promote and advance the interests of female entrepreneurs.

In order to ensure that a company satisfies the requirements established by the state and the city, the NYS MWBE and NYC M/WBE certification processes entail detailed reviews of a business's ownership, management, and control. The credentials are effective instruments for fostering diversity, economic growth, and equal playing fields for minority and female business owners in the state of New York and locally in NYC.

EcoPlum has earned accreditation as a women-owned business and a B Corporation, demonstrating that it upholds strict requirements for social and environmental impact.
