EDB & ITC Co-organizes Series of Factory Visits Highlighting Female Entrepreneurs

A series of factory visits has been co-organized by Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) as part of the UK-Sri Lanka Trade Mission. These visits have been hosted under under the SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme.

Founded in 1979, EDB caters in the International Trade and Development industry with headquarters in Colombo, Western Province, having specialities in Policy Advisor, Monitoring the performance of the export sector, Market & promote Sri Lanka’s products and services etc. In addition, ITC was founded in the year 1964, serving International Trade and Development industry, headquartered in Geneva, GE.

A total of 59 factory visits were executed bringing buyers from the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce as well as Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce to Sri Lanka. It also highlighted businesses that are led by women from Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Kandy, Matale, Galle, Matara, Jaffna, Mulative and Kilinochchi.

Zouk Group Ltd’s Tayub Amjad stated, “The engagement with Sri Lankan women entrepreneurs was both productive and inspiring. Their dedication to quality and sustainability aligns well with the expectations of UK buyers.”

Moreover, EDB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) added, “This mission reflects our commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs and positioning them as key contributors to Sri Lanka’s export economy. Partnering with ITC and esteemed UK Chambers of Commerce has further strengthened the bridge between Sri Lanka and the UK.”
