Emirates launches Gender Balance Council for IWD 2024

The Emirates has come up with a Gender Balance Council to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day 2024. The council shall represent its female employees while looking forward to create a knowledge sharing platform in addition to advancing the cause of gender balance. The event shall include workshops, mentorship programs that will help the women in workforce.

The main objective of the council would be Group’s existing commitments’ support that includes the NOORA network, UN Global Compact principles, IATA’s 25×2025, and the UAE Gender Balance Council pledge.

Liz Wiseman, a well-known leadership expert has interacted with the employees while discussing about the insights on boosting skills in leadership.

Gender balance strategy of the Emirates Group puts focus on 3 key areas that includes:

  1. Equal pay and fair compensation
  2. Equitable recruitment, development, and promotion
  3. Balanced policies, inclusivity programmes and initiatives

The firm has 43% of women in their workforce that includes 1,240 UAE Nationals. According to the group, women embody middle management with 39 per cent in addition to executive roles with 15 per cent which shows a rise in lateral moves and promotions.

Gender Balance Council is a great initiative by the Emirates that shows its dedication towards celebrating and empowering women in their workforce.
