Emirati Businesswomen Drive Economic Growth with 2,000+ New Ventures in 2024

Emirati businesswomen have stamped an impressive milestone in the first half of 2024; more than 2000 businesswomen have started their own companies and are contributing to 22% of the total new formed companies in UAE. This surge highlights their critical role in fortifying the national economy and advancing innovation within the community.  As per the latest report published under the aegis of the Emirates Businesswomen Council, percentage of women employees has reached 34. 6%, up from 32. 5% in the previous year and clearly pointing to the increasing relevancy of women entrepreneurship in the UAE context.

The report reveals that women constitute 18% of all the UAE entrepreneurs, with a remarkable 77.6% of these business owners being under forty years old. And out of number of these business owning, only 6% are below the age of forty. Furthermore, nearly half (48.8%) of these women hold executive-director roles, and 61.4% independently own their businesses, reflecting a notable rise in female-led enterprises.

Innovation remains at the forefront of Emirati businesswomen’s achievements. A new digital tool – a virtual ‘consulting and funding firm’ has been devised by a collective of female entrepreneurs, leverages artificial intelligence. Furthermore, a smart application for smart medium-sized enterprise has been designed and developed that will offer them robust solution in digital marketing and human resource department.

The report also highlights advancements in renewable energy and environmental sustainability spearheaded by women. Among these initiatives are projects focused on solar energy from rooftops, a Dhs200 million startup specializing in virtual reality-based remote healthcare services, and an e-commerce platform that connects local artisans with global markets, generating over Dhs150 million in its inaugural year.

This remarkable progress reinforces the UAE’s position as a global leader in women’s empowerment and entrepreneurial spirit, showcasing the transformative impact of female-led innovation on both the national and global stage.
