Edinburgh Napier University (ENU) alongside Women’s Enterprise Scotland (WES), announced the launch of a new lab entitled ‘SDG5 Living Lab’ in order to assist and support Scots women into business.
The newly launched lab shall provide women-dedicated tailored training, resources, and networking opportunities in order to establish a business followed by propagating their careers. The lab shall get the support of Lynne Cadenhead, WES chair and ENU entrepreneur in residence. She is a serial entrepreneur, tech sector leader, and investor. She said, “The power of education and entrepreneurship will be pivotal in reshaping the narrative for gender equality.”
In order to advance the 5th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG5) set, United Nations has designed this initiative for gender equity. The initiative’s main target is to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women in addition to ensuring women possess equal rights to economic resources and leadership.
Lynne said in another statement, “As an Edinburgh Napier graduate, and now a Royal Society entrepreneur in residence, I’m thrilled to bridge academia and industry, fostering a culture of innovation that empowers women in business. The SDG5 Living Lab embodies our commitment to driving tangible change for women, by combining research and innovation. The training delivered by Women’s Enterprise Scotland is informed by over a decade of research, which means that recipients benefit from world class expertise in the field of women’s entrepreneurship.”
