Ericsson has partnered with MTN with an intent to drive financial and gender inclusion while empowering African women to reach their full potential. Free financial training has been provided by this alliance to small- and medium--scale women entrepreneurs in Kampala, Uganda.
Both the organisations have launched a 3-week training program for local female traders in order to celebrate International Women's Day. The program has been launched at one of the largest markets in the Ugandan capital.
Furthermore, this particular initiative has underscored the benefits of MoMo, a mobile financial services platform of MTN which is powered by Ericsson Mobile Financial Services specifically for small businesses, along with encouraging participants to make use of it.
The training has been initiated with an official opening where MTN Uganda’s Chief Executive Officer, Sylvia Mulinge was also present there. In addition, the opening included market visiting and women traders’ interaction.
During the training, entrepreneurs has been educated by local MTN and Ericsson volunteers, covering numerous financial topics that includes savings, cash flow and credit scores. The participants of the training program were also enlightened on the usage of mobile money transfer, pay, save, receive, and borrow funds in order to grow their businesses.
