The national carrier of UAE, Etihad Airways has commemorated their 20th anniversary on the occasion of Emirati Women's Day. They underscored their achievements in promoting Emirati women in the aviation industry.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, Etihad has started their journey in the year 2003 and they have over 8,000 employees strong, from 135+ nationalities.
The airline has reported that almost half of UAE national workforce includes Emirati women which shows its commitment and dedication towards developing local talent. Building a reputation for fostering Emirati talent, the airline has been working hard since its inception by designing and conducting programmes for these women intending them to engage new skills.
Some of the Key initiatives by the airlines include Etihad Cadet Pilot Programme, Graduate Manager Programme in addition to few specialised training sessions for technicians and engineers.
Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer Dr Nadia Bastaki stated, “Reflecting on our 20-year journey, we are proud to have attracted ambitious women whose dedication has been pivotal in positioning our national airline as a global leader. Emirati women have excelled in operational roles, leadership positions, and as outstation managers around the world. Their contributions extend beyond their professional roles, inspiring both the UAE and the global aviation community. Today, we celebrate their resilience, their drive for change, and their role in shaping the future of our airline, the aviation industry, and the UAE.”
