EU Career Talk Series 'Women in Aviation' Session held at Abu Dhabi University

A career talk titled ‘Women in Aviation’ has been hosted by the European Union Delegation to the United Arab Emirates in an alliance with Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi University. The event took place at the University, bringing leading female aviation professionals together that also includes Engineer Samia Adil Othman, Pilots Valentina Leone and Shaikha Hasan Nawab with an intent to empower female students while inspiring them to pursue careers in the aviation industry.

In the EU Career Talk series, this event becomes the fourth session that aims at broadening career prospects for young females specifically in higher education by divulging them into diverse professional experiences.

In a statement, EU Ambassador to the UAE Her Excellency Lucie Berger stated, “Let us continue to support and inspire the next generation of women aviators, ensuring that the sky is truly the limit for all.”

In addition, this specific talk challenged the aviation perception as a male-dominated field, encouraging female leadership in the industry with mentions of EU and UAE women’s contributions in shaping the global aviation future.

Moreover, Prof. Ghassan Aouad, the Chancellor at Abu Dhabi University’s added, “At Abu Dhabi University, we are committed to empowering women to excel in any field and break barriers. Through our partnership with the EU Delegation and Etihad Airways, we connect students with industry leaders who share their insights, challenges, and successes, helping shape the next generation of women leaders.”

Etihad Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer Dr Nadia Bastaki welcomed the initiative of EU and said, “At Etihad, we are committed to fostering an inclusive work culture where diversity thrives. Being the first woman to be promoted to an executive level within the airline was a significant milestone, I believe that women across all different work sectors are making a substantial difference, contributing to the success of the aviation sector and the UAE as a whole.”
