Female F1 Academy drivers to feature in Upcoming Documentary Series

A docuseries chronicling the highs and lows of the female Formula One driver of the F1 Academy will be produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine media firm. All will be able to follow the lives of 15 remarkable Formula One drivers thanks to this collaboration between F1 and Hello Sunshine in a style akin to the Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive.

The F1 Academy is where women compete in Formula One, with the goal of preparing the drivers for the highest levels of competition. According to the show's logline, "The docuseries will highlight the drama of the races, as well as the personal stories of these incredible drivers and the teams around them, as they break barriers in one of the most demanding sports in the world."

The show's objective is to provide viewers with a look into the lives of these young women as they take on extreme sport. Like the Netflix series Drive to Survive, which is currently in its fifth season, this is another concerted effort to improve the sport's reputation in the public eye. Though it still lacks a title and a home on any streaming service or television network, this untitled series is in the works. Executive producing for the project will be Sara Rea, head of unscripted at Hello Sunshine, and Isabelle Stewart, who represents F1 Academy.

Since F1 Academy was just established last year and is currently in its first season, there is no better time to begin documenting than now. The drivers, who range in age from 16 to 25, will participate in seven races spread out over the course of the year, for a total of 21 races, which will conclude in Austin, Texas.

"These drivers are dynamic, inspiring, and competitive, and Susie Wolff, their leader, is a force of nature in the best possible way," Sara said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "With its high stakes, heart, and adrenaline, F1 Academy is a rich landscape for compelling and powerful female stories."

This series will demonstrate how determined the sport is to address the lack of female diversity by establishing the F1 Academy because it has been dominated by men drivers for such a long time.

The comment was expanded upon by Wolff, who said, "F1 Academy is going to lead change in the racing industry as we develop the greatest framework for identifying and fostering female potential both on and off the racecourse. By collaborating with Hello Sunshine, experts in sharing motivational female tales, we will reach a worldwide audience and equip the next generation of young women to smash barriers in racing and beyond. We aim to encourage women all around the world to achieve their ambitions.”

“We are unable to predict when the docuseries will run because it has only recently started and has no home as of yet, but it seems likely that we will have to wait until after this debut year is through to learn the full narrative.”
