Female Researchers to receive 30000 Euro for LOreal UNESCO Fellowships

By: GWL Team | Friday, 17 February 2023

The L'Oréal UNESCO Fellowships provide female scholars with a one-semester residency in an international, interdisciplinary academic setting at NIAS-KNAW in Amsterdam. This comprises female researchers in the STEM and life sciences fields.

The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS-KNAW) and the Dutch L'Oréal-Unesco FWiS-programme will jointly offer a Fellowship grant of €30.000 to further the educational career of female researchers for three to ten years following their earning their PhDs.

Fellows will not be required to perform ordinary administrative, clinical, or teaching tasks, which will free up researchers to concentrate on developing and strengthening their research as well as authoring papers or funding applications.

About the Fellowship

The Unesco and L'Oréal-sponsored prestigious worldwide programme includes the Netherlands FWiS scholarship programme. Over 3900 women from 110 different countries have won fellowships or awards since 1998. Of them, five went on to receive the Nobel Prize.

Application process

By March 1st, 2023, applicants must provide a comprehensive description of the planned project with not more than 1500 words. Thereafter, the accepted candidates can start their term at NIAS-KWAS in early February 2024 or early September 2023.
